Confirming several rumors, Sony has just announced the addition of analogue controls to the critically-despised PS3 title Lair.

The update, which is set to hit Japan in the April 17th patch, will also add Dual Shock 3 rumble support and the ability to display a targeting icon.

Sony reports that a handful of free content will be made available alongside the patch: two new playable dragons and a couple of themes for the PS3 interface.

Lair has always been looked down upon for its awkward six-axis control scheme, so this update might just make a half-decent game out of it. That said, it is a bit late.

Maybe the PSP remote play feature will suck less, too. That's a little optimistic, though.

but I gotta admit the cinematics in Lair are pretty cool
