Community News - Stephen King opposes legislation

Posted by Nicholas Kaye on 04/06/2008 04:55:30

Stephen King, the famous author of numerous best-selling horror novels, recently spoke out against a Massachusetts bill that aims to make illegal the sale of violent video games to minors.

King expressed his sentiments in a guest column he wrote for Entertainment Weekly.

He discusses the fact that minors can easily get themselves into brutal, gory films such as Hostel, but that they’d be unable to play comparatively clean games such as Grant Theft Auto if the bill is passed

King also debunks politicians’ attempts to draw attention away from the true, fundamental problems of our time by using violent entertainment as a scapegoat.

He goes about the whole affair of revealing politicians’ senselessness quite eloquently, too, providing a clear, sensible opinion on an issue I believe everyone has been squabbling about for far too long.
